Series Small Tents: One of the goals of the FuiAcampar for the year 2013 is to make a series of reviews about small tents, for one or two people. The goal is to assist adventurers in the choice of equipment according to your profile. We inform you about the features and functionality of each, differentiating tents tents techniques generalists, and we indicate the best options for treks, Wild camping or structured.
Quickhiker II tent, Quechua, is part of that group of tents.
The Quickhiker has several features that make it a single tent. Its structure is full of little details, all very well thought out and designed to make life easier for campers. Your name in Portuguese would be something like “fast Walker”, which indicates your use for trekkers. However, your weight makes it much easier for those who want to spend a lot of time walking with her on the back, while she stands on the issues and structure resistance.
Check out the detailed features of kid sleeping bags and our views on several aspects:
Structure: This tent is an igloo, but full of small particulars. Its structure is already “pre-assembled”, with the rods attached to the sobreteto and the room also already embedded in sobreteto. This makes it much easier to mount.
To assemble the structure, are just three steps: (1) put the rods in sobreteto channels, (2) do the rods stretch, holding the ends in eyelets, and (3) place the espeques. Ready! As the room was previously embedded in sobreteto, everything is assembled together.
Is a self-supporting tent, i.e. She is mounted even without the espeques. This feature allows you to choose the place where to put, with her ever assembled and still causes you can set it on a hard floor as rock or cement.
Size: The tent room has 2.15 m long, 1.30 cm wide at the widest part (head) and 1.10 wide at the narrowest part (feet). The height is 1.08 m.
The tent sleeps two comfortably with some equipment. If you’re with a lot of junk, they can be placed in avancês.
Resistance: The format of the tent is an igloo with a format that, when closed, looks like a capsule. All materials, such as fabrics, rods and espeques, are very resistant. In addition, there are 8 extra Extenders along the base of the rods, which give a more resistance in situations of higher voltage. The tent comes with sealed seams and has a water column of 2000 mm, which gives it great resistance to rainfall Brazilian climate in General, including longer-lasting showers or thunderstorms.
Our experience: We camped with this tent in windy conditions. On that occasion, we arrested all extenders that are close to 7 rods and help to give resistance to the tent. With that, she did really well! We’re not (yet) to face some time with her, but to near-normal she was also right.
Weight: The tent weighs 2.7 kg. That is, it is a considerable weight if it is loaded in the back. There are other tents for two lighter on the market. However, the Quickhiker WINS in other aspects such as comfort and endurance, which are benefits that, depending on the situation, can compensate for the weight.
Volume: The packaging has 17 x 17 x 39 cm. Although relatively heavy, the packaging is quite compact and format your causes fit whole (inside the box) at the bottom of most backpacks-cargo. It is also easily attached to the bag or bike.Just to carry on hand is that it is not very practical, since the handle to hold it’s up top and not on the side.
Room: the room, as already commented, has a size suitable for two people. The fabric of the room is in polyester, part of it in the screen of mosquito netting. Outside the room, on the upper portion, there’s an area on screen of mosquito netting, but small. On the roof, there is an opening with a zipper that provides access to Windows. The floor is quite thin, and the wetlands under the tent left the fabric marked, although not enough moisture into the inner part.
Our impression: It would be nice if the mosquito net door area was larger in order to facilitate the observation of what happens on the other side of the door. The floor of the room, despite offering a good resistance to water, is made of a very thin material – a thorn easily pierced the ground the first time we use the tent. The floor is possibly the weakest point of the tent.Depending on where you are camping, it’s worth taking an extra canvas to put under it.
Port: Are two ports on the sobreteto, one of each side of the room. That facilitates the input and output, especially if the tent is being used by two people, or if you want to use one of the avancês space to store equipment. If open simultaneously, for staying one facing the other, generates an excellent air circulation.
Avancê: Each door has a avancê, big enough, where it is possible to leave bags or other equipment that can get out of the room. The avancê has a considerable size, where it is possible to place a cargo bag.
Window: There are two Windows to make the exchange of air between the internal and external environment. They can be closed with a zipper and there is also a support for keeping them open. Another cool feature is that access to open and close the window can be made by inside, since there is an opening in the roof of the room, so that you don’t have to get out of the tent to open/close the window.
Pockets: There are two the little pocket on the inside of the room, on the wall where the head. In addition to these two, there are pockets on the roof of the tent a little net in mosquito net fabric, as a thing, removable.
Our experience: While we were traveling with a tent, we used this little net from the ceiling to let the towel drying overnight, which was very efficient.
Espeques: Are in aluminium and with a different format, angle, which gives him a great resistance. Still not bending any of them!
Some espeques now come with a camera back tied the tip – use these to put directly in the tent and secure the basic structure to the ground. The camera back is useful for after you take them out of the Earth. Those who do not come with camera back should be used for attaching the Extenders, if there is a need to give more resistance to the tent.
As they do not have traditional curvature on the end that that is off the ground, it is essential to put them in a correct angle. We will explain and show how to use in a video specific to this tent.
Our experience: It was the first time that we use this format of stanchion. In the early odds, but after using we have come to the conclusion that are excellent, very sturdy and lightweight!Possibly the best model that exists in the market.
Extenders (strings): There are 8 extenders that help give resistance to tent in case of wind and rain. They are near the base of the Rails. To hold these Extenders, use the espeques that do not have strings already tied and pass the cord through the slots in the stanchion. Another feature is that the strings glow in the dark, great not to trip on them at night.
Rods: The rods of this model are in aluminium and fairly Hardy. In addition, they also have slightly different characteristics of most tents. To assemble it, they should be strung on channels that are on the outside of the sobreteto, to which they come prey. And the tips are different: the rounded edges are the ones that should end within a closed compartment at the end of the channel, while the ends are a PIN must be docked to the eyelets. Talking may seem complicated, but so is the entire Assembly process, it is very simple in practice. See the Assembly in the video below.
Our experience: One of the rods is a little bigger than the other, and the PIN that is quite difficult to fit into eyelets. But with a little help and it’s possible way.
Tip: Do not release the rods of the tent! They are already attached to the sobreteto precisely to facilitate the Assembly of tent. Also do not release the sobreteto room. These moorings are what make the Assembly be so quick and easy. Release only if you need to wash, but well before analysis, to learn to ride again later.
Evaluation and Information
Positive points: The tent is very easy to assemble, practice for use in day to day and has excellent cost-benefit ratio.
Negative points: The floor is fragile.
Recommendation of use:
