The Best Measure of Safety on Beaches and Swimming Pools

We are in July and many families come to enjoy with the children of the beaches and swimming pools. It is a hilarious plan, children spend big, but safety is very important in these cases. And even though has fences, floats, little magicians and other articles, the best measure of safety at beaches and pools is to not remove them over or for a second eye. Monitoring is the only thing effective. All else may fail.

The figures are horrifying. Five thousand children die in Europe each summer due to drowning could have been avoided. 70% are under the age of six years and 3 of every 4 children die drowned, die in private swimming pools.

Best to use life jackets

For children who still do not know nothing good, best floating in the water system is the vest life, no sleeves or floats as well as quality swimsuits like Contrary to floats that are at risk of rolling over or sleeves that can get out of the arms or deflate, the vests are more secure.

To learn how to swim as soon as possible

What children learn to swim, or at least float, since they are small is a great peace of mind. Although it of course does not replace supervision, knowing that if it falls into the water will exit afloat and they will not drown, is very reassuring.

Do not trust

Even though the child has learned to swim, not relax. You can get tired to swim and be far away from the curb, can take a hit of another child, it can be bad… Do not trust. It always monitors your child when you enter the pool, both in the water and out. Perhaps does not lack that you’re in the water if you can already swim but never remove her eye. Distract yourself two minutes can be fatal.

Do not leave toys in the water

This is one of the dumbest mistakes. Toys that are floating in the water attracts children. They want to go for them and can fall into the water in an oversight.

So, out of the pool always removes all items that have been floating.

Barrier measurements

Of course, make sure that the pool has with safety fences children may not open and is always closed, but do not make sense. There are perimeter alarms, which warn when child is near pool, or immersion, when dropped.

On the beaches, there are no barriers, children must therefore be always accompanied by an adult when they come to the water.

Eye with inflatable pools

According to a report in the United States, a child dies drowned in an inflatable pool every five days. The vast majority under age five due to brief oversights in monitoring.

Being small, we believe that they do not involve any risk. But as only 6 cm of water are sufficient for a child from drowning, whereupon a cube, a hole or an inflatable swimming pool are a potential risk.

Never remove you eye top

This weekend we had a story that did not end in tragedy of miracle. A 10-month-old baby was adrift at sea with their float. Jesus! Where were the parents?

What these parents was more than a diversion, was negligence I would say. But unfortunately accidents happen, and distract is a just minute may cause a child to choke. Monitoring is the most effective measure we have at our disposal to prevent child drownings.

The example of France

In France, the Raffarin law which includes the obligation to fence all the public and private pools, has allowed to reduce by 75% the children’s drownings.

In our country, from the National Association of child safety has been running a campaign on Change so that more children will die drowned in swimming pools.
