Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences (University of Buenos Aires). It is dedicated to the teaching of pure and applied mathematics, and natural history. It was created in 1952.

History

The University of Buenos Aires (UBA) was organized in 1821, five years after the declaration of independence. In 1865 the Department of Exact Sciences was created, dedicated to the teaching of pure and applied mathematics, and natural history”. In 1891 the Faculty of Exact, Physical and Natural Sciences was created, including the Engineering career. Finally, In 1952, the creation of the Faculty of Engineering took place, and the Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences acquired its current name.

Structure

The academic structure of the Faculty is organized into twelve Teaching Departments that each have their respective Director and a Departmental Council with representation of professors, graduates and students. Unlike the chair structure that exists in many faculties, the departmental structure provides a more efficient and dynamic environment for teaching and research.

Library

The Digital Library is an institutional repository whose purpose is to store, preserve and disseminate the scientific, academic and institutional production of the Faculty. A Digital Library with the characteristics of an institutional repository is a tool for the management, storage and preservation of what the academic community produces. In this sense, it constitutes a support for research, teaching and learning. Currently, the Digital Library offers free access to publications edited by the Faculty, to doctoral theses produced, to a set of records and memoirs of historical value, and to a photographic archive.
